| It's true, I do- love you so much, so very much. It is difficult to bear the fact that circumstance and time have sought to undermine the deep and special love I feel for you. A war. A war! In harms way you may find yourself, while I am lost in loneliness and sometimes tears. Because a war keeps us apart, ...the rivulets of tears fall every time I think of you. I love you, I do, so very much. Each night on bended knee I pray to keep you safe, through the drum beats of the war that line the paths of glory. Take my heart, my love, and keep it with you, no matter where the peril. In thought, in mind, in every breath, you are with me - and I with you, on every rampart, in every scene, every moment, day and night. When your time to serve has ended, when this war is done - and won, my outstretched arms will embrace you. Waiting...until you return, my love. |
